The wish leaf in progress
A Monumental Gunnera Leaf — A Seat for Wishes
The 19th of March is the finishing. The color of the patina will be chosen 😉
This sculpture is inspired by the impressive leaf of the Gunnera plant, one of the largest leaves in the plant kingdom. Its pronounced veins and ribs form a natural architecture that supports the immense surface — an ingenious structure carefully preserved in this work.
Every ridge, vein and texture of the leaf has been faithfully captured in bronze. What in nature lives for only a single season is transformed here into a lasting form. The fragile leaf becomes a monumental object.
Standing 160 cm high, the sculpture retains the true scale.
At this size, the leaf becomes more than something to observe; it becomes something to experience. It invites the viewer to sit down, pause for a moment, and become part of the form.
The Gunnera functions here as a seat of fortune — a place where one may sit, make a wish, and enjoy a quiet moment of reflection and imagination.
The leaf used for this sculpture (from the Hortus Botanicus) was harvested only at the end of the growing season, allowing it the time to reach its largest and most beautiful form before being cast in bronze. In this way, a fleeting moment of nature is preserved for generations to come.
